It then continues to present the most recent national data on the percentage of youth who had adequate levels of cardiorespiratory fitness; the percentage of youth aged 2–19 years who consumed fruits and vegetables on a given day in 2009–2010, using data from one 24-hour dietary recall interview; nationally representative data on injury-related ED visits by children and adolescents aged 18 years and under in the United States during 2009–2010; the sociodemographic characteristics of children aged 6–17 years prescribed medication or taking medication during the past 6 months for emotional or behavioral difficulties, and describes parental reports of the perceived benefit of this medication; the most
recent national data from 2012 on self-reported physical activity among youth aged 12–15 years, by sex and weight status; the first nationally representative data on core, upper body, and lower body measures of muscle strength among U.S. children and adolescents aged 6–15 years by sex and age group; describes the estimate of any psychotropic medication use in the past month among U.S. noninstitutionalized adolescents aged 12–19 during 2005–2010, using National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data; and presents recent trends in the prevalence of allergies and differences by selected sociodemographic characteristics for children under age 18 years.
