This first edition of the Atlas of Fetal Echocardiography is the result of the extensive knowledge of experts in the field of fetal cardiology. The objective of this work is to provide didactic and practical information for the prenatal detection of congenital heart diseases (CHD), through assessment by cardiac ultrasound (US)/fetal echocardiography correlated with its clinical applicability. In addition, it presents several US techniques with and without Doppler for detailed assessment of fetal cardiac rhythm and function.
Richly illustrated, with a collection of high quality fetal echocardiogram images, it has a vast archive of didactic videos, in which the reader can access dynamic images of the normal fetal heart and a variety of examples of the different CCs, from the most common to the rarest and most complex.
Chapters have been carefully selected, added and divided considering topics in fetal echocardiography: normal heart, early fetal echocardiography, interatrial septum, ductus arteriosus (ductus arteriosus) and a wide variety of CC. Topics related to CHD were divided into: cardiac position and situs abnormalities, septal defects, right and left obstructive malformations, conotruncal anomalies, aortic arch abnormalities, tricuspid valve malformations, univentricular atrioventricular connection (“single ventricle” physiology) , myocardial and pericardial diseases, fetal heart tumors, vascular anomalies (“vascular ring”) and rare. Various techniques for assessing cardiac function and fetal heart rate are also described.
